Independence Day is coming soon and you can offer healthy and tasty food options for your guests. Here are three ways you can have healthier options on the menu:
Not only will you give your food amazing flavor, but more fat will naturally run off the meat you cook using the grill. Use lean cuts of chicken, turkey, beef and pork. Wrap fish in foil and grill as an even healthier meat option. Choose reduced calorie/fat options for hamburgers and hotdogs.
You can also add veggies to the grill for a healthy side dish. Another option is to make a raw vegetable tray with low-fat, low-calorie dips such as hummus. A fresh fruit bowl or raw cut fruit is a healthier way to add sweets to your celebration.
Liquid calories can add up quickly during holiday celebrations. Offer your guests water infused with fruit for a refreshing unsweetened drink. Iced tea and sparkling water are other healthy options to keep your guests hydrated.
